It was just a week ago on August 8th, 2010 that Huntington Beach’s favorite son Brett “Simpo” Simpson made surfing history again by winning the 2010 US Open of Surfing for the second year in a row!! Simpo created his own legacy in this very event last year by capturing the 2009 US Open of Surfing title and the record breaking $100,000 first place prize for the first time ever. Simpson again defeated the World’s best surfers this year to make it back to back titles along with the highly prized $100,000 top honor!!! Brett surfed 100% every heat from start to finish and it’s so great to see his hard work payoff!
A big SHAKA to New Smyrna’s Evan Geiselman who took out the prestigious Pro Junior title over Alejo Muniz, Kolohe Andino and Miguel Pupo respectively! Evan’s above the lip surfing style stood out in the Men’s 6* Prime and the Hurley Pro Trials events over the nine day period. It was Evan's futuristic aerial surfing that eventually captured him his first US Open of Surfing title and solidifies his positing at #1 on the ASP North American Pro Junior ratings!
